About LumaProbe
LumaProbe is an independent internet-diagnostics and troubleshooting website. It is designed to help ordinary users collect clearer evidence before changing equipment or contacting a provider.
Why the site exists
A slow or unreliable connection can come from several different places: the broadband line, the provider network, Wi-Fi coverage, congestion inside the home, a single device, DNS resolution or the website being used. A single speed figure rarely identifies which part is responsible. LumaProbe brings small, understandable checks together so that users can compare conditions and narrow the problem before spending money.
The site has one focused purpose: explaining internet and local-network symptoms through browser-based tests and practical guides. It does not sell broadband, repair lines, operate a network or receive private status feeds from providers. Provider pages therefore link to the provider’s own checker instead of presenting unverified outage claims.
What LumaProbe provides
The diagnostic tools measure browser-observed download transfer rate, upload transfer rate, HTTPS request latency, variation between requests and failed test requests. Other checks can display the public IP used for a request, resolve public DNS records and request the response headers of a public website. Each tool page explains how the result was produced, the important limitations and the next comparison to make.
The guide library covers Wi-Fi placement, Ethernet, router and mesh choices, gaming latency, home-working reliability, DNS problems, streaming and UK broadband complaints. Guidance begins with reversible, no-cost checks. Equipment categories appear only where the diagnosis makes them relevant.
Independence and funding
LumaProbe is funded through optional advertising and Amazon affiliate links. Advertising does not change test results. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed, use sponsored link attributes and do not increase the visitor’s price. Product references are categories rather than paid rankings, and the editorial policy requires the diagnostic case for a purchase to be explained first.
LumaProbe is not affiliated with BT, Sky, Virgin Media, EE, Vodafone or the other services linked from its status directory. Names belong to their respective owners and are used only to help visitors find official support information.
Who creates and reviews the content
Pages are prepared and reviewed by the LumaProbe Editorial Team. The team checks guidance against the site’s implemented test behaviour, distinguishes browser estimates from network-engineering measurements and uses official sources for provider status and UK consumer-rights information. Pages show a review date where readers would reasonably expect one.
Drafting and translation tools may assist with structure and language. Material is manually reviewed before publication. Automation is not used to invent outage data, measurements, personal product-testing claims, qualifications or endorsements.
Privacy and contact
No account is required. Speed-test history is stored locally in the visitor’s browser when local storage is available. The public application does not build a central profile of test results. Like any hosted website, the server and security services may process request information to deliver and protect the service; the privacy policy explains this in more detail.
Questions, corrections and accessibility feedback can be sent through LumaContact. Useful correction reports include the page address, the statement concerned and an authoritative source where appropriate. Material corrections are reviewed and the affected page is updated rather than silently leaving known errors in place.
